The yogic practice of working with the breath is known as Pranayama. For many centuries, yogis and mystics have studied the connection between the breath and our minds. There is an undeniable connection between the two. When our mind is agitated, our breath becomes shallow, or rapid, or uneven - or we may unconsciously hold our breath. In the same way, when we are at ease within ourselves our breath is even and smooth.

The techniques of pranayama teach us to regulate our breath and change in specific ways to create a shift in our inner experience.
