The Hare Rama Hare Krishna mantra — Hare Rāma Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma Hare Hare; Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare — is a sacred mahāmantra in the Bhakti yoga tradition, glorifying Lord Rāma and Lord Kṛṣṇa, both revered as supreme forms of the Divine in Vaishnavism. In Sanskrit, Hare is the vocative form of Harā, a name for the divine energy of God; Rāma means “the one who gives joy” or “the source of bliss”; and Kṛṣṇa means “the all-attractive one.” Chanting this mantra is said to purify the mind, dissolve negative emotions, and awaken devotion (bhakti) by focusing the heart and consciousness on divine love. Spiritually, it is believed to burn away past karma, calm the restless mind, and deepen one’s connection to the eternal soul (ātman). Many devotees also experience greater peace, joy, and resilience in daily life, as the repetition of the mantra gradually replaces material anxieties with a sense of divine presence and purpose.
